The Biomimetic Learning Pathway
A structured guide through our lecture library. We recommend following the sections in order, as each builds on the principles covered before it.
The Biomimetic Framework
Dr David Alleman essentially founded biomimetic dentistry as it is known today. This lecture gives you the full framework: what biomimetic dentistry is, why it matters, and how it changes the way you approach restorative work. Everything else on the platform builds on the principles covered here.
Understanding Cracked Teeth
Packed with biomimetic concepts, this lecture covers the biomechanics and histology of the natural tooth. It explains the biorim and biodome, methods of mechanical analysis, and how to dissect the various types of crack, then how to restore and reinforce the cracked tooth biomimetically.
Isolation
As Dr Davey Alleman says, "If I can isolate it, I can restore it." Rubber dam isolation is fundamental to successful adhesive dentistry. Recommended equipment, techniques, and protocols.
Preserving Pulp Vitality
Preserving the vitality of the pulp is one of the main foundations of biomimetic dentistry. Learn it from a specialist endodontist who has also trained extensively in biomimetic dentistry.
Modern Cariology
We want to learn how to treat teeth, but we also need to know when not to pick up the drill. By assessing each situation clinically and radiographically, learn when a preventative approach is better, before considering any minimally-invasive restorative work.
Adhesive Protocols
A detailed and comprehensive lecture. Jorge walks through his entire adhesive protocol, ending in the creation of a biobase. This is foundational adhesive knowledge: whatever adhesive system you use, you will understand the steps and achieve optimal bond strengths in every situation.
Fibre-Reinforcement
Fibres are used often in biomimetic dentistry. Learn how materials like short fibre-reinforced composites and polyethylene fibres create predictable, adhesive, biomimetic restorations.
Deep Margin Elevation
Reduce or eliminate the need for crown lengthening surgery, and become confident managing even the deepest cases.
Posterior Morphology and Occlusion
In biomimetic dentistry the layers at the base of the restoration are often said to matter more than those at the top, but re-creating functional morphology is just as vital for long-term success.
Anterior Aesthetics
The foundational biomimetic principles from Sections 1 to 9 apply to anterior dentistry too. These lectures focus on the specific challenges of achieving natural, long-lasting results in the anterior region.
