Nathaniel Bellelis

Stress-Reduced Direct Composites (SRDC) with Continuous Fibre Support.

presented by:
Dr Nathaniel Bellelis

Dr Nathaniel Bellelis presents a biomimetic framework for stress-reduced direct composite (SRDC) restorations using continuous fibre support. Drawing on contemporary adhesive science, real-time OCT data, and extensive clinical experience, he explores how time, cavity configuration, adhesion, and fibre reinforcement interact to influence long-term restorative success. The lecture combines a focused overview of the underlying theory with a step-by-step video demonstration of his SRDC protocol, followed by clinical case discussions. Dr Bellelis illustrates how polyethylene fibres can be used strategically to manage polymerisation stress and preserve compromised tooth structure.

Aims & Objectives:

1) Understand the biological and mechanical principles underlying stress-reduced direct composite restorations and continuous fibre support.
2) Identify how decoupling with time, cavity configuration, and layering strategies influence polymerisation stress and bond durability.
3) Learn practical protocols for caries removal endpoints, peripheral seal zone creation, adhesion, and fibre placement in structurally compromised teeth.
4) Apply fibre-reinforced biomimetic techniques to manage cuspal flexure, improve fracture resistance, and achieve more repairable failure modes.
