Meet Dr Mary Dawjee

Dr Mary Dawjee is a South African aesthetic and restorative dentist, Digital Smile Design (DSD) Master and passionate educator. She has more than 15 years of clinical experience, and her work sits at the intersection of facially driven dentistry, digital treatment planning, aesthetics, function and holistic patient care.

Her philosophy is deeply influenced by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection, impermanence and individuality. It is a philosophy she applies not only to her dentistry but also to the way she approaches life, career and personal growth: embracing authenticity, appreciating what is unique and recognising that meaningful transformation does not require perfection. In dentistry, this translates into a comprehensive approach grounded in an understanding of how the human body functions, in DSD and in reverse treatment planning, with treatment designed to enhance rather than erase the individual.

Dr Dawjee holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Aesthetic Dentistry (cum laude), an MSc in Orthodontics (cum laude), a Fellowship in Laser Dentistry and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration. She completed DSD Residencies in São Paulo and Madrid before achieving DSD Mastership in 2021. Her clinical interests include functional dentistry, facially guided treatment planning, Digital Smile Design and digital dentistry. She treats everything from quadrant dentistry to more comprehensive cases such as Invisalign, implant restorations and ceramics, all guided by reverse treatment planning.

As a speaker and educator, Dr Dawjee explores both the science and the human experience of dentistry. Her teaching spans facially guided smile design and dental treatment, emotional dentistry, comprehensive treatment planning and holistic approaches to oral health, as well as burnout, stress, the nervous system and clinician wellbeing. She is passionate about mentorship, education and helping clinicians flourish, both in the clinic and in life.
