Dr Jorge Aravena Diaz

The Bond Is the Force: Reconstructing Anterior Teeth with the No-Post Approach.

presented by:
Dr Jorge Aravena Diaz

In this lecture, Dr Jorge Aravena Diaz explores how structural preservation and adhesion can outperform traditional post-and-core systems in anterior teeth. Emphasising his philosophy to “superficialise your dentistry,” he demonstrates how minimal intervention and powerful bonding interfaces can achieve long-term stability. Through clinical protocols, photographic case examples, and step-by-step video demonstrations, Dr Aravena Diaz illustrates his overall approach and mindset in the restoration of anterior teeth, while also clearing up common misconceptions surrounding biomimetic protocols in the anterior region. He focuses on attempting to achieve predictable failure patterns that preserve the tooth rather than the restoration. This presentation embodies a biomimetic approach where trust is placed in the bond itself.

Aims & Objectives:

1) Apply the principle of structural preservation by minimising tooth preparation and avoiding deep post placement in anterior restorations.
2) Describe the role of the adhesive interface as the primary biomechanical reinforcement in post-free reconstructions, and learn the adhesive protocols that Dr Diaz follows when restoring anterior teeth.
3) Implement fibre reinforcement techniques using Ribbond to manage high C-factor cavities and protect thin remaining dentin walls and the developing bond.
4) Differentiate between different restorative strategies in terms of repairability, long-term stability, and tooth preservation outcomes.
