Estamos orgullosos de presentar nuestra primera conferencia sobre Odontología Biomimética grabada en español, con subtítulos disponibles en español e inglés. Hemos colaborado junto con la Dra. Yasmin Maza, de Venezuela, quien ha recibido una amplia formación de muchos de los principales expertos mundiales en el campo de la Biomimética. En esta conferencia introductoria, que es la primera parte de una serie, la Dra. Maza ofrece una visión general de los conceptos fundamentales de la Odontología Biomimética, centrándose en el tratamiento de la lesión de caries y el análisis estructural.

Destaca la importancia de comprender la naturaleza de la lesión de caries como un proceso dinámico y subraya la necesidad de un cambio de paradigma en la forma en que los dentistas abordan dichas lesiones de la caries. La Dra. Maza analiza diversos protocolos y técnicas para preservar la estructura dental, lograr una adhesión adecuada y restaurar los dientes con una intervención mínima. A lo largo de la conferencia, subraya la importancia de un diagnóstico exhaustivo y de comprender la estructura natural del diente para garantizar el éxito de las restauraciones biomiméticas. Las ideas de la Dra. Maza ofrecen una valiosa orientación a los odontólogos que deseen adoptar los principios biomiméticos en su práctica clínica.

Objetivos de aprendizaje:

1) Conocer  los objetivos fundamentales de la Odontología Biomimética y cambiar el enfoque de la longevidad de la restauración a la longevidad del diente natural.
2) Conozca los métodos biomiméticos de diagnóstico y tratamiento de la caries para minimizar los efectos del ciclo restaurador, y aprenda a utilizar el sistema ICDAS.
3) Aprender sobre el Tinte Detector de Caries y diferenciar entre los distintos tipos de lesiones de caries.
4) Adquirir conocimientos sobre el análisis estructural, haciendo hincapié en la conservación de la cúpula del esmalte.

We are proud to present our first-ever Biomimetic Dentistry lecture recorded in Spanish, with subtitles available in Spanish and English. We have teamed up with Dr Yasmin Maza, from Venezuela, who has been extensively trained by many of the leading worldwide experts in the Biomimetic field. In this introductory lecture, which is the first part of a series, Dr Maza gives an overview of the foundational concepts of Biomimetic Dentistry, with a focus on caries management. 

She emphasises the importance of understanding the nature of caries as a dynamic process and highlights the need for a paradigm shift in how dentists approach caries management. Dr Maza discusses various protocols and techniques for preserving tooth structure, achieving proper adhesion, and restoring teeth with minimal intervention. Throughout the lecture, she underscores the significance of thorough diagnosis and understanding the natural tooth structure in order to ensure successful biomimetic restorations. Dr Maza’s insights provide valuable guidance for dentists seeking to adopt biomimetic principles in their clinical practice.

Aims & Objectives:

1) Learn about the fundamental aims of Biomimetic Dentistry, and shift your focus from the longevity of the restoration to the longevity of the natural tooth.
2) Gain insight into the biomimetic methods of diagnosing and treating caries to minimise the effects of the restorative cycle, and learn how to use the ICDAS system.
3) Learn about Caries Detector Dye and differentiate between different types of caries.
4) Gain an understanding of structural analysis, with an emphasis on preservation of the enamel dome.
